A good life does not always mean a God life

Many people who live a life without ever communing with God do not realise that they are a sinner in need of saving. Now I know the word “sin” has become a taboo word during the 21st century, so people stave off from speaking about it. Yet the bible is not quiet concerning the monstrosity of sins evil consequences and neither should we be. If one wrong acting casts us away from the eternal presence of God, then surely God takes this seriously and so should we!

Sometimes I watch gospel videos on YouTube produced by loving waters. Ray interviews people who do not know God and will ask some simple questions such as the following…

Are you a good person?

Most people respond to this question by saying yes.

He will then continue with some other questions as a confirmation of what defines good.

Have you ever lied?

Most people would say yes, then he would follow up and say, what do you call someone who tells lies?

They would answer – “a liar”.

Have you ever stolen something, even perhaps just a pen from work?

Most people would say yes, then he would follow up and ask them, what do you call someone who steals?

They would answer – “a thief”

Usually the final question is the following…

Have you ever looked with lust at another person?

They would answer “yes”, then he would say that Jesus said even looking at another woman/man with lust means committing adultery with them in their hearts.

So he would capitalise what they said by saying, “I’m not judging you, but by your own admission you have just told me you are a liar, thief and have an adulterous – do you still think your a good person?”

Once he puts the understanding of sin into such a clear context many would respond that they are not a good person – at least not by Gods perfect standards.

A Holy God must therefore do something about sin, so Jesus Christ was sent to die as an atoning sacrifice for our sins! Now we have the perfect record of Jesus and in exchange he takes our imperfect record. Now that’s what the song calls it “a beautiful exchange”.

We can live a good life without God, but that life will never be perfect so therefore we cannot enter heaven without the perfect record of Christ being given to us.

Some of the most difficult people to reach with gospel are not the poor (for they recognise their need for God), it’s not the criminal behind bars or the grieving parent or the way-wood son, but it’s the one who thinks they are good and does not need saving. They are the ones where a little wisdom is required to help them realise that they are in the middle of the ocean with no lifeboat without Christ.

We can be good but by God standards, we cannot be perfect. A good life does not mean a God life, so let’s come to the cross of Jesus Christ today and know that we are truly saved.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)

Have a blessed day

Love Deano

Eternity is a long time to be wrong

6,000 years the devil has on earth, just 6,000! Now, in human terms that sounds like a lot, but compared to eternity, it’s not long at all. Why does the devil only have 6,000 years?

Please note that I do not make that statement above with the same assurance as salvation in Christ – which is 100% true, but there are many indications to support the 6,000 year lease for the devil and humanity before judgement. As this would take a lot of explanation please check out the following link… https://cappsministries.com/pages/the-6000-year-earth-lease

What do we have to lose by believing and having hope? If we are wrong (which I do not believe is the case) then what did we lose? Believing and having hope enforces us to be better people. Believing that we were created and not evolved helps us see fellow humans with empathy. How is it possible to have deep empathy if we are just some cosmic chance that fastened itself into some molecules and formed our fleshly beings? We are far more than dark matter and molecules! We have a soul, a Spirit and a purpose! Monkeys are not our ancestors, Abraham, Jacob and King David are! Such a better family story to tell 😃

I’ve spoken with atheists before, I just don’t understand why they spend so much time trying to prove something they believe does not exist? One atheist said to me, how can I believe in the invisible man in the sky? Well… who said he was a man and who said he was in the sky? To state those two identifying points means that they have some inclination of God.

For Gods invisible works have been clear to humanity (Romans 1:20). Look around, look at the depths of creation around you. Let’s just take a simple tree, each tree is unique all though it may be an oak, birch or palm tree – each one that is the same type of tree is uniquely different! They have many leaves, branches and different types of bark. When a tree is cut down even the inside has tree rings that supposedly indicate the age of a tree if counted. Just like the tree, humans are also uniquely created, all from one race (the human race) but each with differences that make us unique- no one in the world has your fingerprints! Now how can that be without design?

God planted eternity in the human heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Many wonder what the purpose of this life is because they only focus on what can be achieved in this life. The reason we search for something beyond this life and fall in love with fairytales and adventures is because we are created for so much more. God has eternal plan crafted since before the earths foundations! (Ephesians 1:4) you are part of that eternal plan. Yet there is a huge issue…

The devil has blinded so many from being able to see this truth! He has kept the masses on an endless pursuit of happiness dependant on temporary success and fleeting pleasure. Humanity ceases to achieve its ultimate God given purpose because people have turned inwards instead of upwards, looking to themselves instead of the God who made them. Unfortunately this means many navigate life without a map and wonder why they feel lost.

Jesus Christ is the map! His word is the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. His Holy Spirit is the voice that keeps us on track and the destination is our eternal home prepared for us by our Heavenly Father. If we choose not to believe or postpone our decision because of earthly pursuits, what would become of our pursuits if today was our last day? Eternity is a long time to be wrong! Look around you, there is a God. Check out the details of your finger prints and the artistic work of your evenly proportioned body, we are fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalms 139:14-16) God has made us for his purpose, we did not create God for ours. Eternity is too long to be wrong so come to Jesus today and be sure of your salvation.

Love and God bless

Praying for the persecuted church #50

Dear bloggers – this is the finality of this very important series! What have we learned? We have learned that many of our dear brothers and sisters in Christ are having troubles in this world. We have learned how lenient the west is towards those with faith than those in Eastern countries. We have learned that our prayers can and do make a difference! When the new updated world watch list for 2024 is released the series will start again but we will pray once a week – most likely a Tuesday. Todays last stop is Nicaragua 🇳🇮

What does persecution look like in Nicaragua?

Churches in Nicaragua that speak out against injustice and human rights violations by the government are viewed as destabilising agents. This makes them a target for hostility, which can include intimidation, harassment, monitoring, arrests and even attacks. Roman Catholic churches are particularly susceptible to opposition.

The government is particularly hostile to churches that provided shelter and care for people during the widespread protests which broke out against the country’s dictatorial regime in 2018. To this day, these churches are still experiencing retribution from the government, including slander and surveillance.

Meanwhile, recent elections and changes to the law have been used as a pretext to label church leaders as terrorists and coup-plotters. This has led to increasing restrictions on churches and other Christian organizations.

Who is most vulnerable to persecution?

Given the government’s widespread totalitarian control, persecution affects Christians throughout Nicaragua.

Meet David

“God had then released as a miracle”.

Let’s pray

Father God, we bring before you the nation of Nicaragua. We pray for those affected by government hostility to be strengthened to follow Christ with all their hearts. We pray that even when facing hostility from the government, your people will be bold when sharing their faith. We pray your Holy Spirit to infiltrate the government so that Godly influence will make its way onto the decision panel. We pray your Holy Spirit will work in the hearts of the government officials so they may see Christian’s in a positive light. We pray this in Jesus Christ name – amen

Dear Heavenly Father

Dear Heavenly Father,

I’m sorry that I’ve been out of touch lately. I have drifted away from you like a leaf blowing in the wind. Father, this life has been so difficult and so many of your children are finding it hard to cope – and I’m one of them. Yet just because I don’t pray loudly doesn’t mean I’m not thinking of you father, how can I forget your love and faithfulness? I couldn’t even if I tried. Yet I have wondered and drifted on a backslide and yet even then I find that you stayed by my side! Oh such lofty love is so wonderful, so counter cultural in this modern age of me – me – me. You sent your son Jesus so I could be free! Those who the son sets free are free indeed. Yet I hear a knock on the door of my heart, it’s sin again, and sin wants to enter in. I open the door but immediately I’m filled with remorse. Oh Father, help me get back on course! When I get to heaven I would rather have a well done faithful servant and a round of applause, I don’t want to be ashamed and fall crying on the throne room floor.

I’m sorry that I pay more attention to the news than your gospel. I’m sorry that I love the things of this world more than I love the one who made it. I’m sorry that the other day when I was questioned about my faith, I became afraid to talk the truth because of what the others listening might say. Oh that’s not the child you called me to be! You say that we will trample scorpions under our feet and go through the fire and not be burned. Oh this is a lesson I’ve learned… To not be afraid of speaking Gods word.

Heavenly Father bring me back! Bring me back to my first love. That I may gaze on the beauty of the son Jesus Christ and be filled with His spirit and life. Bring me back to the roots of my faith, help me be bold when I pray and stand up in the face of adversity and no longer be afraid! Oh the price for our sins has been paid so may we children of God wake up and take our rightful place! Father, you had a plan for me before you laid the earths foundation, you have a plan for the nations and no demon can stop your manifestation! Father to you belongs the glory, to you belongs his-story! No one is greater than you, no one can defeat you – as we are your children let’s never forget who we belong too. Father, in this generation, bring back all those who have drifted away – today I write this letter to you, knowing that these words will reach heavenwards to the throne room. This letter is not just for me, but also for you – the one who reads these words and says “father that’s me too!”. Dear Heavenly Father, I love you and I love your son – you will be done and your Kingdom come. I write these words as your precious son – with love and in the name of Jesus – amen

Love and God bless

Praying for the persecuted church #49

Hello dear bloggers or should I say bom dia from Portugal!! Hope all is well with you, it’s actually cold here in Portugal 🇵🇹. Anyway, today we are not focusing on Portugal, we are taking a trip to Jordan 🇯🇴 so let’s go.

What does persecution look like in Jordan?

Compared to Christians living in other Middle Eastern countries, most Christians in Jordan live a safe and stable life. The majority belong to Orthodox or Roman Catholic churches, which are recognised by the government. Jordan is tolerant as long as everybody stays in their religion of birth. However, for non-traditional churches, those perceived to be sharing the gospel, and people becoming believers from Muslim backgrounds, there is persecution.

Christian communities are monitored in Jordan, and a Christian from a Muslim background can face beating, arrest or even being killed, if they are open about their new faith. Believers from Muslim backgrounds have been subject to days of interrogation and beatings, while being pressurized to inform on other Christians. It is impossible for someone who has converted to Christianity from a Muslim background to marry a Christian, as they are still legally considered Muslims: only two Christians from traditional denominations can legally be married. Sharia (Islamic law) also states that if a Christian wife converts to Islam, her husband must convert as well for their marriage to remain legal. Those seen to be helping or encouraging Muslim converts can face threats and have their daily lives made very difficult.

ordan is also home to some Islamic extremist militants returning from war in Syria and Iraq, who pose a threat to the Christian community.

Who is most vulnerable to persecution?

Across the country, Christians who have converted from Islam face the most persecution. This is consistent all over the country, although social pressure and control is likely to be higher in rural areas. The south of the country is known to be more conservatively Islamic.

Meet tareq

I used to be a bully, a troublemaker. I am a new creation now in Jesus Christ. I look more and more like Him.”

Let’s pray 🙏

Father God, thank you for your faithfulness and how in every nation your presence can be found. We pray for those in Jordan who face persecution and pressure from society. We ask that you would give strength to your people and reveal yourself to them in might and power. We pray for your Holy Spirit to move amongst them in might and power, so much so that your power impacts those in positions of authority. May those who convert from Muslim backgrounds be divinely protected from the pressures of the government. May the government be able to stifle the growing presence of Islamic extremism so that no further attacks would take place. May all Christians in Jordan be commuted to love a life of integrity and be faithful witnesses to the good news of Jesus and his gospel. We ask this in Jesus name – amen

Praying for the persecuted church #48

Hello dear bloggers and friends! We are getting close to the finish line of this series, 2 more days to go! So let’s get to it. Today we are taking a trip to Kazakhstan 🇰🇿

What does persecution look like in Kazakhstan?

Since 2011, religious freedom has been restricted in Kazakhstan, a country where government surveillance and control continues to increase.

Russian Orthodox Christians are generally left alone by the state as long as they do not try to influence Muslim-background Kazakhs. However, believers from Muslim backgrounds are persecuted by both the state and their own communities. When somebody becomes a Christian, they are at a high risk of being locked up by their families, kept from any other Christians, verbally and physically abused and potentially cut off from their family and community. The authorities monitor and raid meetings of Christian converts and may arrest and imprison their church leaders. The authorities raid Christian gatherings and can fine, detain and imprison believers – particularly Christian leaders.

It is difficult for Christians to earn a living – in rural areas in particular, authorities will demand bribes from Christians trying to run businesses. Some business owners keep their faith a secret. Converts and church leaders are at particular risk of losing employment due to their faith.

Who is most vulnerable to persecution?

Believers from Muslim backgrounds are at risk all over the country, but face more pressure from their communities in rural areas.

Meet John

The worst possible scenario is that the church will be closed, and several people may be jailed.

Let’s pray

Father God, thank you for the nation of Kazakhstan, a nation that needs the Holy Spirit to move in might and power. We pray for Christian families that are struggling to make a living due to being ostracised by their communities. We pray you will be their provider and give them the knowledge and wisdom to set up their own businesses. We pray your divine protection on churches that are meeting in secret. May your presence be so tangible in those meetings that even if they are found the ones who find them will be enveloped by the power of your presence. We pray that the authorities will recognise the integrity of Christians and will be more lenient regarding religious freedom, may Christian influence become a part of the countries governance. We pray this in Jesus Christ name – amen

Praying for the persecuted church #47

Hello everyone! Let’s continued with the very important series! Today we are taking a trip to Oman 🇴🇲 let’s see what’s happening so we can pray.

What does persecution look like in Oman?

Omanis who convert to Christianity face pressure from their families and, more widely, from society to renounce their faith. They may be expelled from the family home, and in some cases lose their jobs. Disinheritance is common, and if married, they may struggle to see their children, finding themselves on the losing side of a custody battle.

Migrant workers who convert to Christianity typically experience the same pressure they would in their home countries as they often live within their own national or ethnic communities. This could mean relative freedom for some, but intense persecution for others.

Expatriate Christian communities are tolerated, but they do experience surveillance and restrictions. All Christian organisations must register themselves with the authorities, and their meetings are monitored to record any political statements and if any Omanis are attending.

Who is most vulnerable to persecution?

The pressure on Christians tends to be more severe in rural areas, where the culture remains tribal. In urban areas, converts can live a more anonymous life.

Converts from Islam to Christianity experience greater levels of control exerted over them by their families and society, mostly in the forms of pressure to renounce their faith and isolation

Let’s pray…

Father God, thank you for the wonderful nation of Oman. We pray for the people in that nation to become more accepting of Christianity and that more would be saved. We pray for your ministers who operate through Open Doors in the Arabian Peninsula, that they may find new believers and provide all the support that they need. Thank you that many in this nation are seeing you through dreams, may you continue to reveal yourself through supernatural means when your living word is not available. We ask these things in Jesus Christ name – amen

Humans futile pursuit to build better than God

One day a group of scientists and God entered a man making completion. The stage was set and man and God entered the scene. The scientists looked to God and said, can you give us some dust? God said, “no, make your own dust”.

Humans can only create out of what’s already created, it’s foolish to think we can therefore outsmart God with our technological advances and AÍ machines. Yet still, in our stubborn pride, we keep building the Tower of Babel!

Have you ever heard the expression, the bigger you are the harder you fall? Or perhaps, more fitting, pride comes before a fall. It seems humanity is heading for a great fall.

God never told us to not create! On the contrary, he gave us the ability to create life – is there anything greater than that?? But, God does call us not to exalt ourselves above him. Speaking of creation, have you ever heard of the following city?…

The city is called Neom. Here are a few details of this other worldly city… well it’s better to see the below video to understand more…

It will be a city like no other on earth. This is the worlds attempt to create a perfect, harmonious, utopian city, yet we are humans… The city will fail to be perfect. Sure it does look cool and has some pretty awesome tech, it’s also not a dream as they are building this city as we speak. Yet the foundation of the city is not Christ, so in the end, how can it stand?

Yet there is a perfect city coming from heaven! The New Jerusalem! Oh this city will blow every city in the world out of proportion, it will make Neom look like a village in comparison. Have you read the description of this city in revelation? Well here is a snippet of what it will look like…

Revelation 21:15-27

The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod made of gold to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. The city was built in a square, and its length was equal to its width. The angel measured the city with the rod. The city was 1,500 miles long, 1,500 miles wide, and 1,500 miles high. The angel also measured the wall. It was 216 feet high, by human measurements, which the angel was using. The wall was made of jasper, and the city was made of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundation stones of the city walls were decorated with every kind of jewel. The first foundation was jasper, the second was sapphire, the third was chalcedony, the fourth was emerald, the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate having been made from a single pearl. And the street of the city was made of pure gold as clear as glass. I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the city’s temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God is its light, and the Lamb is the city’s lamp. By its light the people of the world will walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. The city’s gates will never be shut on any day, because there is no night there. The glory and the honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing unclean and no one who does shameful things or tells lies will ever go into it. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will enter the city.

What a future awaits us! And this city is eternal, it will never lose its splendour, the grass in it will always be green, the metal will not get rusty, our homes will be perfect, we will know everyone who dwells in the city – I mean we have all eternity! The population of the city will be more than entire world population today 8 billion + people! And who knows what plans God has for the rest of eternity? Perhaps we will have many planets to explore, perhaps we will rule cities like Jesus said to the faithful, perhaps we will be so full of joy that sleep will never be required… Oh the possibilities are limitless!

We cannot build better than the one who gives the ability to build. We should just build upon the foundation for Christ and trust in Him. God is our great builder, He is the heavenly architect and when we see our home in heaven, it will be far greater than we can ever imagine – even the least of homes will be greater than the greatest mansion.

Love and God bless

Praying for the persecuted church #46

Good day everyone! Hope all is well with you. Today we are travelling to the nation of Brunei 🇧🇳

What does persecution look like in Brunei?

The growing implementation of Sharia (Islamic law) in Brunei – which applies to both Muslims and non-Muslims and has the goal of making the country fully Islamic – is making it increasingly challenging for the country’s tiny Christian minority to express and share their faith. Conversion from Islam is illegal, meaning converts can face enormous pressure to renounce their faith in Jesus. Islamic oppression is the main source of persecution in Brunei.

Since Protestant Christian groups cannot be registered as churches but only as secular organizations, they are required to submit their financial and operational reports to the government each year. All church activities are monitored by the authorities and surrounding community, and church leaders are warned against doing outreach or becoming too public. To encourage the spread of Islam, the government has been giving aid to those who become Muslims, which has led to some Christians being coerced into converting to Islam.

Who is most vulnerable to persecution?

Converts from Islam face the most extreme persecution in Brunei.

Meet “Elora”

Pray for the salvation of the people of Brunei. Pray for the sultan, the governments and authorities of this country as well. Please pray that the glory of God will shine in Brunei.”

Let’s pray

Father God, thank you for the nation of Brunei, thank you that even there you are moving in might and power. All though the Christian community is minute at this moment, may it grow a 1,000 fold during the year 2024. We pray for young believers to not succumb to the pressures of Islam but to be strong enough to resist. We pray that church leaders under restrictions and surveillance will be given wisdom that no one else can come against. May they know how to lead your people and how to build your church. We pray that the authorities will have a change of heart concerning believers and will loosen up the chains of oppression. May those who bow the knee to Islam come and bow the knee to Jesus instead as you reveal yourself to them in might and power. We pray this in Jesus Christ name – amen

Love and God bless

Praying for the persecuted church #45

Hello dear blogger family! Hope all is well with you and that you are motivated for great things this year, I certainly am! Let’s continue the very important topic of praying for our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Today we are taking a trip to Cameroon 🇨🇲

What does persecution look like in Cameroon?

In Cameroon, those who convert to Christianity from Islam are not free to express or share their faith, and doing so can bring hostility from family and the local community. They are at great risk if they are even discovered to own a Bible. Meanwhile, the influence of Islamic militants, particularly in the north, has hindered the activities of many churches. Security injunctions have also heavily restricted church life.

The ongoing Anglophone crisis – a civil war that’s been fought since 2017 – has made leaders who speak out against violence a target for separatist groups and the government. Some of the leaders of the rebel groups also force churches to pay taxes for their protections. While Cameroon is officially a secular country, there are predominantly Muslim areas where Islamic extremism continues to grow. Good governance is lacking in Cameroon, adding to the vulnerability faced by persecuted Christians.

Who is most vulnerable to persecution?

Christians who convert from Islam are especially susceptible to persecution, as are believers who live where Islamic militants Boko Haram are active (in the far north) and where the Anglophone crisis is located (in the northwest and southwest).

Meet a pastor in Cameroon

“We have stopped church services, because Boko Haram terrorists make life impossible. If they come, they kill people. So, we decided to have church services somewhere else. Please pray for us. We want to be able to pray from our own church. “

What has changed during 2023?

Islamic militants Boko Haram remain a serious threat, and continue to target Christians in the north of Cameroon. The civil war in the western part of the country also affects Christians, as the rebel group forces churches to pay protection money and threatens them if they speak against the misdeeds of the rebel group. The government maintains its pressure on Christians, and it is not safe for Christian leaders to criticise the human rights conditions or corruption in Cameroon.

Let’s pray…

Father God, thank you for the beautiful nation of Cameroon, a country that is blessed by the Lord! We pray that you will strengthen the government so that laws can be implemented that protect Christian’s from extremists. May they have wisdom in how to address the countries growing insecurity problems. We pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort those who have suffered trauma due to attacks from extremists. We pray that the local churches and global churches will support believers who suffer without remedy. We pray that support will flow from diverse places to help those in Cameroon. May you pour out your Holy Spirit in might and power and bring many people to salvation in Christ. In Jesus Christ name – amen
