A Christians Hope in the current global housing crisis

Let’s be real for a moment, there is no doubt we are facing unprecedented global housing prices. Here in Portugal rent is almost 3 or even 4 times higher than just 3 years ago, some people are paying more than 1,000 euros just for a room in Lisbon! Now that’s a ridiculous amount of money just for a room to sleep in. I know people who I work with that share a place with 6-10 people just to lower the cost of living, but they detest the conditions and feel helpless. Just to

Put this in more perspective, Portugals minimum wage is just 4,40 euros an hour! Monthly that amounts to about 860 euros, which right now is around the average price of a one bedroom apartment in Lisbon.

Will the housing crisis come to an end?

I don’t like speaking negative all though at times my emotions get the better of me. Yet, from what I can see, there seems to be no end in sight to this global madness with house prices. The only way to put this to a quick end would be for the government to put a cap on how much Landlords can raise the rent, they did this during Covid and it salvaged peoples mental states by creating a safe space for housing.

How can we cope?

The greatest pandemic of modern age is pride and selfishness. Pride that makes us believe we can “do it ourselves” and selfishness that prevents us watching for the needs of another human being. If Gods family come together and help each other then the burden will feel much lighter. We were never made to do it alone – it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18) does not just refer to marriage but also community.

Our future Hope

And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:3). There is a future destiny for those who trust in Jesus, a place prepared for us that will be for an eternity. A place where the cost has already been paid forever by the blood of the lamb. A place so beautiful that we are not even allowed to see it (1 Cor 2:9) because if we did we would never want anything more of this world. A place where thieves cannot break in and moth and rust cannot destroy (Matthew 6:19). A place where you will not only have a new home but also a new body – a healthy and strong one that’s fit for eternal life! (2 Cor 5:1-10). Oh what a glorious place it will be! A few short years on earth and then we fly away. Are these momentary troubles even worth comparing?

This is the hope we have for the future, let no one steal this Hope from us, for it is worth holding onto.

Love and God bless

Deano

Prayer for the nations #2

Welcome to part 2 in the series “prayers for the nations”, today we are going to Sudan.

Country – Sudan

Capital City – Khartoum

Population – 50 million

Religions (s) – Sunni Islam (97%) Christianity (3%)

Prime minister/leader – Osman Hussein

What should we know about Sudan?

Sudan has a history of many cultures throughout the ages such as, the Khormusan, Halfan, Sebilian and Qadan cultures – dating way back before the time of Christ. It will take too long to discuss each culture in detail.

Sudan’s history dates back to ancient times, with the Kingdom of Kush (c. 2500 BCE–300 CE) flourishing along the Nile, known for its pyramids and interactions with Ancient Egypt. The region later saw the rise of Christian Nubian kingdoms (c. 6th–14th century) before Islam spread through trade and conquest.

The Funj Sultanate of Sennar ruled from the 16th to 19th centuries, blending African and Islamic influences. In the 19th century, Egypt and later Britain colonized Sudan, leading to the Mahdist revolt (1881–1898), which briefly established an independent Islamic state before Anglo-Egyptian rule resumed.

Sudan gained independence in 1956, but its modern history has been marked by conflict, including two civil wars between the north and south, culminating in South Sudan’s secession in 2011. Ongoing challenges include economic struggles, political instability, and the Darfur conflict. In 2019, a popular uprising overthrew longtime president Omar al-Bashir, but Sudan continues to face political uncertainty and violence today.

Sudan is also one of the poorest countries in the world and is ranked 170th on the human development index. The country relies heavily on agriculture due to international sanctions. A large portion of the land is dry and estimated 60% of the people live in poverty.

Who is Sudans (supposed) leader?

Osman Hussein (born 1951) is a Sudanese politician who has served as acting prime minister of Sudan since 17 January 2024, following the resignation of Abdalla Hamdok on 2 January 2022. He was the Prime Minister of the government of Sudan from 2022 until 17 January 2024. Info from – https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osman_Hussein_(politician). Not much else can be found about the current leader.

What areas need prayer?

According to a 2024 report Sudan is in a severe humanitarian crisis for various reasons such as; escalating conflicts, mass displacement, an economic crisis and the near collapse of healthcare services. There is an estimated 25 million people in need of help and certainly our prayers! More info on – https://www.rescue.org/eu/article/fighting-sudan-what-you-need-know-about-crisis. Taking all of this into account, let’s pray 🙏

Let’s pray…

Father God, we give you glory honor and praise. Oh Lord, you hear the cries of the suffering, nothing happens without you knowing, as you know even when a sparrow falls to the ground and the very hairs on our head are numbered! We lift up the nation of Sudan, a nation in desperate need of the move of God. We pray that any external provision coming into Sudan will not be thwarted. May your hand be upon the cargo to be delivered for humanitarian aid. We ask for you to move in the hearts of the Christians, that they may move in the Spirits power and reach their neighbour with the good news of Christ. We pray that you will establish a Godly leadership that will make wise decisions to enhance the nations wellness and stability. We pray for the internal conflict to cease and a strong leadership to bring law and order to the land. We pray for those in need of food to be fed, those who need clothes to be clothed and those who need shelter to find a safe place to rest. Oh Lord may you move in might and power throughout Sudan! We pray this in Jesus Christ name – amen

Psalm 102:15 The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the Kings on the earth will revere your glory.

Psalm 86:9 All the nations you have created Lord will come and worship before you, Oh Lord, they will bring glory to your name.

A hot dog changed the course of my life

I think at that time I weighed about 8 stone, which is around 50KG. I was in my early teens and had bones poking out of my cheeks. I had more nicknames than I can remember ranging from; pill head – coke head – mess up – one lung (because of my deformity) and so on! Oh dear, I was a train wreck of a person. Drugs had me captive like a chained prisoner. Sure I worked my day job, I had associates (barely call them friends), I had no shortage of girlfriends all though all the relationships failed miserably and I had plenty of cash to spend getting high with only a few pounds to pay my foster mum each week. I would score cocaine, weed and ecstasy and I would be “the dude with the supply” for the night out.

Who would have thought that sniffing up half an ecstasy tablet at a friend’s birthday party would lead me down a road of hardcore drug taking? I escaped death multiple times, I lost a friend through those drugs and I was living wild. For 48 hours or so on the weekends I would barely eat, I would just be so high that I couldn’t eat! So I lost a lot of weight and looked a mess.

This was me all those years ago!

Somewhere down the line of this crazy journey my foster mum received an invitation to the local church. There was an annual event called “the fun fest” held by the church in the community. They would invite the community to participate in games, talent shows, seminars and provide food – all for free! My foster mum caught me one weekend with an apetite and asked if I wanted to go. I said no but then heard about the free food so I was persuaded to go. When I arrived I was given a hot dog and some juice and lovely smiles. I was amazed by the happenings of the event, but more amazed by the love shown to by the members of the church! I was expecting that something would need to be given back, but no, the only thing they wanted back was me! I was overwhelmed by this kind of unconditional love.

My journey to faith began from that moment. I started attending church. Within a few months I remember the distinct moment in the prayer room with Pastor Phil when I gave my life to Jesus! Within a few more months I started helping with youth work and then started help to run the Friday night youth club. My battle with the other life was crazy! I was still on drugs in the beginning but my interest in drugs faded as my passion for Christ grew. My old so called friendships faded out as my new friendships grew, but it took time to clear away my nicknames and earn some respect! People who would see me still would not accept the change for a long time! But God was working in me and through me and life was changing for the better. Sometimes people don’t want to accept the change in you because of the lack of change in themselves.

This journey eventually led to me running bible teachings, Sunday school and the Friday night youth clubs! We even established a monthly youth service that became so great that it impacted people within a 30 mile radius! God was saving many people at that time and the ministry was powerful! After about 10 years the calling to Portugal laid upon my heart. Now, 9 years later I am serving the Lord in Portugal! What an amazing journey the Lord has taken me on! All glory belongs to Jesus Christ who is our redeemer and author of our faith.

John 8:36 So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If you struggle with drugs or know someone who does, I will be more than happy to talk with them! Let me know, or share my testimony of what the Lord Jesus can do! No one is beyond redemption

Love and God bless

Prayers for the nations #1

Welcome to the first of the series “prayers for the nations”! Every Monday (at least for now) I will release a series for praying for the nations.

How will it work? There is a list from the global peace index with 163 nations listed (link is at the end of this post). The 1st is the most peaceful and the 163rd is the least peaceful. Instead of starting from number 1, we will start from the least peaceful and most urgently required prayers. This way we can compile the prayers starting from the nations that need it the most.

So, let’s begin with Yemen! 🇾🇪

Country – Yemen

Capital City – Sanaa

Population – 34.7 million

Main religion – Arab Muslims (Islam)

Prime minister/leader – Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak (apparently)

What should we know about Yemen?

Yemen is located on the southwest corner of the Arabian Peninsula. The language is mainly Arabic but there are multiple dialects spoken. In the past Yemen was used as trade routes for commodities such as frankincense and myrrh and also spices. Later, Yemen was the first place where coffee was cultivated commercially. The current republic of Yemen has existed since 1990. The country seems to be divided between north and south: in the North the city of Sanaa functions as the political capital city. In the south, the city of Aden functions as the economic city. Yemen is an incredible picturesque country with beautiful mountains and terrain. There is so much more information, you can read more here – https://www.britannica.com/place/Yemen/Land

Who is Yemen’s supposed leader?

Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak is supposed to be the current prime minister. He has been appointed since February 2024. More information can be found here – https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmad_Awad_bin_Mubarak

What areas need prayer?

Yemen is a country with much potential yet is one of the least developed countries in the world. The country has been in a political crises since 2011 marked by street protests, corruption, unemployment and poverty. By 2015 the country became engulfed by a civil war. Yemen was reported to have the highest number of people in need for humanitarian aid, reaching a staggering number of 24 million people! Let’s put that into perspective, that is two times the population of Portugal. The country is the 2nd worst on the global hunger index, surpassed only by Central African Republic. So yes, Yemen needs our prayers! More info –  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yemen

Let’s pray…

Father God, we come before you now in the mighty name of Jesus and intercede for the nations. Our focus is shifted towards Yemen, a country that would often not be found uttered on the prayers of your people. We pray for restoration in the land! We ask for those who are in desperate need to be supplied with basic necessities such as food, water, clothing and shelter. We pray for distribution of food within the land to be done fairly so that all may be supplied. We ask for corrupt leaders to be vanquished from their positions and for righteous leaders to take their place. May you bring an end to corruption so that nation may experience a time of peace and safety. For any Christians, we pray you would give them strength and courage to share your good news. May Yemen become known for its beauty and not wars. May good things be spoken about this nation! We pray your will be done and your Kingdom come. In Jesus name, amen.

Psalm 102:15 The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the Kings on the earth will revere your glory.

When change is so great you are no longer recognised

Have you ever been on holiday and came back with such a sun tan that you look like a different person? Usually for me I don’t go a lovely golden brown colour, I turn lobster red. Sometimes I go brown after, especially now I am climatized to warmer weather living in Portugal.

Have you ever had such a radical haircut/extensions or some make over that made you look completely different? Then when you show yourself people are in awe of your new look!

I remember a rocker style guy from our youth group in England. He was a humongous rugby player with long dirty hair, spots and a lot of facial hair. One day, our leaders took him out for the day, we had no idea what for. He spent the whole day having a complete make over. His change was so great that he came back looking like a superstar with fresh hair, a shaven face and new clothes. The whole youth group lined up to give him a hug.

Sometimes change can be instant and sometimes it takes time. Sometimes change is for good and sometimes for bad. Some people love change and others are afraid of it. Change means things will be different right? It means that circumstances may change – like the change when losing a job or starting a new one. Like the change of a new born baby, such as what I have witnessed with my younger sister and the new born baby. Like a change in the weather, a new home, marriage or the loss of a loved one. Sometimes change can be avoided and sometimes it cannot.

Yet there is a change that happens that is far beyond all other changes. It is the change that Christ makes within us. It is the changing of a human heart. The change of a lost soul to a saved one. The change from a dirty slate to one wiped clean. An everlasting change that can show instantly or over time.

When I became a Christian I was a skinny underweight A-class drug user who was mixed with the wrong crowd. My blue eyes were blackened by the constant use of ecstasy. Many months after stopping drugs I went to a local pub with some leaders to share the gospel. A man was there who knew me as “pill head Dean” – yes I was known so much that I had a nickname. I will never forget his reaction when he saw me. Let me just state something, this man was a supreme gangster known for violence and for carrying a knife. Before he saw me he had made threats to the 6foot 7 youth pastor that he had a knife and he would “do him in” – meaning stab him. The youth pastor told us and that’s when I saw the man and he saw me. He stared in disbelief saying “look at his eyes! Look at his eyes!” He was so startled by the physical change that him and his friends soon left the pub. It seemed the change God can make in someone was too scary to face. However, that same night a fellow drug user who I used to hang around with was at the pub. We interceded that evening for him and his family. He was amazed and so were we!

God can change anyone for the better! The old saying goes “you are never too messed up to come to Jesus”. The apostle Paul changed instantly from someone who persecuted Christians to worshipping the one he persecuted! After Jesus resurrection and Pentecost the disciples went from being a group of ordinary men to global game changers! Never doubt the changes that God can make… the change from God will perhaps make you unrecognised by the world, but you will certainly be recognised in heaven!

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!

Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Change is coming because God is going to move mightily!

Love and God bless

Deano

Prayers for the nations – introducing the new blog series

Some of you will remember the blog series A-Z attributes of God that eventually turned into my current best selling book. You may also remember Christdentity (our identity in Christ) and also praying for the persecuted church (prayers for the top 50 most persecuted countries in the world). Well, we are about to begin a new series – prayers for the nations! Oh I do love to write a good series and share this with you fellow believers and bloggers 🙏

How will the series work? How often and which countries?

Well, there are 195 inhabited countries in the world – 193 are member states of the United Nations and 2 of them are non-member observer states. Some countries may not particularly included because they relate to other nations – God knows! We are praying for the nations because we are called to do so, there are many bible verses that attribute for the believer in Christ to do so, here is one for example…

1 Timothy 2-1-2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

We are called to even ask for the nations (Psalms 2:8-12). This series will be focused on praying for the leaders of the nations, praying for the church in that nation, prayers for the poor and prayers for revival – and anything else the Holy Spirit may bring to mind.

The aim…

  • Start date for series – February the 10th
  • Occurrence – once a week on a Monday
  • Most likely will pray for Nations starting from Portugal and then beyond. However should a nation be brought to attention then we shall pray for that nation. A checklist will be made and each post will link to the previous one so the nation can be prayed for repetitively if necessary.
  • Each post will talk briefly about the nation such as; population, main religion, language, leader and so forth.

As this is the beginning of the journey then the course of it may change with time. It’s in Gods hands and I pray that it will be led only by the Holy Spirit. If we can build a community of people to pray for the nations then this will be a true blessing!

Dear blogger, does this sound good to you? Do you want to join this journey? Do you have any ideas? Please comment if so! 🥰🙏

So, the 10th February, let’s get started!

Let’s pray…

Father God, thank you for the nations and your promise to Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. This promise has been fulfilled but many wait in the valley of decision, a place where they must decide if they believe in you are not Lord Jesus. May this series “pray for the nations” be led by your Holy Spirit. May you be the one who lights the way and bless this journey. We pray all the nations will now the knee to Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Thank you father God! To you belongs the glory and the highest praise. In Jesus Christ name – amen

Love and God bless

Adopted by God

Do you know the difference between fostercare and adoption? Well, before I say what the difference is let me show a personal story that many of you may already know.

I was placed into fostercare at the age of 5 due to unstable conditions for my 4 brothers, 2 sisters and I. We suffered neglect, traumas and were in a desperate situation. I then spent the rest of my life until 18 years old bouncing from home to home, school to school and ended up on a destructive path during my teens into my early 20s.

I was once offered to be adopted by the second family I lived with, but I denied the offer because I thought I would never be a part of my blood family again. The truth is, by name and belonging I would legally be bound to my new family! I’m glad today I made the choice I did because God worke everything out for me.

This is where the difference is… fostercare is temporary, you live with the family but you do not belong to them as any time you can be kicked out, as was the case with me many times. However, adoption is permanent, it is legally binding and you then belong to your new family.

We as Christians belong to a new family through Christ! We have been grafted in and are bound with our saviour for ever. When the crowd said to Jesus “your brother and mother is here to see you” Jesus replied, “who is my mother and who is my brother? Is it not those who do the work of God” (Mark 3:31-35). This statement was not Jesus disregarding his family, it was him expanding the family! He was stating that the family through God is far more than just flesh and blood, it is a spiritual connection far deeper than we can fully comprehend.

Read the following verses

Ephesians 1:4

Romans 8:29

We have been adopted to sonship in Christ! We now have an eternal binding to Gods family because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. God will not revoke his eternal contract signed by Christs blood, if he did revoke it, what kind of father would we have!? God knows those who are truly his (2 Timothy 2:19).

If today you feel you don’t belong, then know that you have millions of brothers and sisters around the world who you will one day know in heaven. You belong to the most diverse and awesome family in the world and you have the greatest and most powerful Dad that anyone can imagine. Your belonging is sealed by Christ – you will certainly not lose your place!

Love and God bless

Deano

Hard work will always reap rewards in the end

Here is my 9 years journey in customer services!

9 years in the industry of customer service work is no easy feat. People can be difficult to handle, systems can be tricky to learn and even members of your team or managers may hold back your potential. Yet the process, if endured, can build character and create a strong willed character that will not be easily swayed.

My journey…

2016…I started in 2016 for a company called CHEP (a blue pallet company). In the beginning I was doing around 100 outbound calls a day! Yes, I lost my voice after a couple days and had to do emails until I recovered. It was this first job that I learned the role of multitasking – I would make calls, do emails and update the system simultaneously. It was a challenge that I endured for about 18 months until I was promoted and only required to make outbound calls. I worked in this place for about 4 years and then moved on.

2020… in the midst of a pandemic, I decided that enough was enough and I found another job.  I worked another customer service role for a top global tech company. I worked with various systems (like SAP) made calls and handled back office tickets. I finally got a small break through when I became what they call “a floor walker” – basically I would call people who needed help (we worked from home) and guide them on how to do it. I took on that role but for no extra pay.

One day, about 18 months after I took on that job, just before Christmas 2022 – the project decided they did not want the English market. They sent me an email with the news but they didn’t even tell my manager! My manager was shocked and upset but could not do anything. So just before Christmas I lost my job.

2023… 5 months later, in May 2023, I found my next job. The recruiter said she was torn between me and someone else and it took a while for her to make a decision. I waited 5 days after the deadline, sent a few email before finally getting a response to say I got the job! I started a week later, spoke to a guy on the first day who is now one of my closest friends and settled in.

I worked for an insurance company now. A complex job that caused me a lot of headaches and stress, especially as I commuted 3 hours a day to and from the office. I excelled quickly in the project with my new work bestie, we created material and made the team more efficient. The input was not ignored by our manager who complimented our work. I hit top score on quality every month for 18 months and always helped my colleagues. Yet my wages were so bad that I spent all those 18 months having to use my credit card, it just wasn’t enough and I struggled.

Our company provides assessment days for career progression. It was in February 2024 that I passed my first assessment to be a business trainer, it was 10 months later that I finally got the offer! I was rescued by who I now know to be a great team leader.

Current day – so here I am today, working as a business trainer on my 6 month trial period. Learning so much every day and being part of a great team is what drives me forwards and gives me more motivation. I am now a trainer for a revolutionary electricity company and it’s great!

During this customer service journey I have been threatened, been shouted at, been called names and made to feel incompetent, had management overlook my potential and give promotions to others and at times I just wanted to throw in the towel and quit! But God had a plan, he was using all of the is to build me up as a person because He became my source of strength, my guide and my inspiration.

After all of this journey, I finally received recognition! It was at the late Christmas work party on the 18th January 2025 that I was called on the stage in front of about 1,500 people to receive the “championing our people” award….

Here’s a funny back story concerning this moment – my team manager informed me that someone from our team would win an award, to be honest my thought was it should be her for amazing management skills. Anyway, I was so desperate for the toilet during the award ceremony that I had to go. So I went and then because I had such a great view of the venue I took about a 10 second video of the place, oh and then I did pick up a drink on the way past the bar to the crowd by the stage. I could not hear the sound from the mic, but when I was at the bar I turned and saw my face on the big screen! I ran even while holding a drink. The quality manager was already on stage about to pick up the award on my behalf, then I huddled up the stairs, embarrassed to collect the award. I felt very ashamed and should have listened to my team manager! If I stayed around for just 5 minutes then I wouldn’t have missed the whole moment. Anyway, we can laugh about it now but at the time it was not so funny.

What’s the moral of all of these stories? Hard work always pays off in the end! If we give up, we could be just about to miss out on our big moment. God always has a plan! Sometimes we have to go through some trials before the triumph, but just don’t quit when the going gets tough! If I gave up, I would have only been recognised as the one who stopped trying. Hard work will pay off in the end! Perhaps not always with money, but certainly by other ways – good reputation is worth more than money and will eventually take you to higher places.

Proverbs 14:23 “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

New series coming soon – prayer for the nations!

There are 195 countries in the world according to research, 193 of which are members of the United Nations. In Europe alone there are 50 countries, but that also includes Vatican City, which is the smallest country in the world. There are many more countries in Asia, Africa, North and South America and Oceania, but we won’t go into details about them in this post.

This series “prayers for the nations” was inspired by a recent church service we had. The Bishop had the whole church praying for Continents around the world. The service was powerful and uplifting and encouraged me to make this into a new blog series. I also may turn these prayers into YouTube videos so we can also join verbally in prayers – God willing.

Psalm 2:8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

God has a plan for the nations. A plan for good and not for harm, a plan for a future and a Hope. Yet we must pray for them and ask for the Lord to move by his mighty power. Psalm 2:8 refers to the future coming Messiah (Jesus) and predicts the coming anointed King. The nations therefore belong to God almighty as He paid the price with His blood.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” – this is our motivation for prayer. We will no doubt come across some leaders of nations that we do not want to pray for, but God requests that we even pray for them!

This journey will be uplifting at times, challenging and perhaps counter cultural. Yet in these last days, we must unite in prayer and ask that God will move.

I do not know which days the series will be released, but just like the prayers for the persecuted church it will likely be one post a week. The first post will be an introduction and then we will go from there.

I’m excited about this and Hope for you to join me on this journey.

Let’s pray

Father God, thank you for the nations on earth! You have made each nation with unique attributes and you have a plan and purpose for those nations. We ask for wisdom and guidance for how we should pray and ask your Holy Spirit to unite your people in prayer. Let’s believe that salvation will come to every nation on earth and that revival will break out in every Continent. In Jesus Christ name, amen.

Love and God bless

Can our words really make a difference?

I wonder if you have ever thought the same as I have. You’re out with a group of friends or perhaps family, having great conversations and you suddenly think “how would this conversation be if I was not here”? Sometimes I have thought how a conversation or perhaps event would be if I was not there – perhaps this comes from my own insecurities of abandonment from childhood.

The thing is, each of us have the power to steer conversations or perhaps situations into a different direction. Some of us might steer things the right way, others the wrong way. Have you ever asked a question that led to a huge conversation? Have you ever made a suggestion that led to a huge event? Have you ever shared an idea that became a reality? You’re voice can make a huge difference!

Some of the best and worst accomplishments for humanity have taken place because of one persons voice and actions. Hitler caused many to follow his evil crusade while Winston Churchill played a major role in ending the crusade.

In the bible many individual voices have made a huge difference. Let’s take some examples…

  • Moses led an estimated 2 million Israelites!
  • Esther used her royal position to be a voice to rescue the Jews
  • Jonah preached repentance and all of Nineveh repented!
  • John the Baptist used his voice to prepare the way of the Lord
  • Jesus Christ used his voice to testify of God and bring salvation
  • Even angels have intervened at times

Our voice or better said, our tongue, can create a huge difference! The question is, how do we use our tongue? Do we have power in our words because words are followed up by actions? Or do our words have no power because we do not mean what we say?

No doubt you have heard the quote “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” – well, whoever quoted that was not telling the truth. Words can seriously hurt us, especially from those closest, those wounds cut the deepest.

What you speak can have a huge impact. I don’t know how many fellow bloggers realise just what a difference their encouragement makes to someone’s blogging! For me, encouragement makes a huge difference all though my motivation for writing is not for this purpose. Kind words lift up a team if they are down, encouragement spurs us on to keep doing good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), even rebukes with love can make a huge impact! Never underestimate just what power your words have.

It is no accident that the universe was formed by the power of Gods word (Hebrews 11:3). For God was demonstrating from the beginning the power of words, more specifically the power of his word!

Faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). The words we speak can make a difference but the words God speaks through us can make a huge difference! Gods word is powerful and active, sharper than a two edge sword (Hebrews 4:12). The thing is, if the word of God is not spoken with faith then the sword is blunt and will not make a huge difference.

Sharpen your words by speaking wisely. Follow up on your words (when they are positive). Speak encouragement to yourself too! Let the words you speak be known to make a difference for good – God has given power to our tongue for either blesses or curses to come out (James 3:10) so may our tongues (words) be a blessing!

Love and God bless

Deano
